She’s in the CENTRE of it all; O Lineman Abi Wade joins us to review the team’s performance at Round 1 of the Sapphire Series 2018. The team hosted the tournament and went 2-0 against rivals Wembley Stallions and Cardiff Valkyries. The O Line was certainly the standout group of the day due to Wade’s leadership and perseverance earning her the award of Offensive MVP.

PD: Abi, how does it feel to have two wins under your belt in Round 1? Q1- it feels great. The whole team worked hard and played really well on the day. We wanted to make a statement and we did beating our rivals wembley and leaving the day with 2 shutouts.

PD: How has the move to 7s affected the team? Q2- I think the move to 7s has been a positive for the team as a whole. There is a closer dynamic within the team.

PD: After Round 1, where do you feel improvements can be made? Q3- of course there is room for improvement. There were several flags on the day which were costly. Huddle mechanics needed to be improved which is largely in me.

PD: How do you feel your personal performance went? Q4- I was happy with my performance as I was able to make some key blocks and I controlled the line well. However, I feel there is room for improvement as I let a few blocks get away from me.

PD: How long have you been playing contact football? And what have been your best moments? Q5- this is my second season of playing contact football. There have been a few stand out plays during this time as well as a few pancakes.

PD: What will the team do to prepare for Round 2? Q6- we’ve gotta work hard during training, review film and just keep improving and hopefully go 4-0 at T2
