Sapphire Series Division 2A South Tournament 2

Admin

Round 2 of Sapphire Series saw the Dreadnoughts go 4-0 with a 32-9 win against Chester Romans and Teesside Steelers forfeiting the game. We spoke to Offensive Coordinator, Owen Beynon, on his thoughts after the game.

PD: Owen, how do you feel the team performed on Saturday? The team played really well, Chester came to play really hard and set the tempo for a good game. We felt like we left some points out there so we’ll be working on finishing this week.

PD: It is only a short turnaround until the next round, what will the team be working on between now and then? We’ll be working out all the wrinkles we picked up on last weekend. And just generally preparing for two tough games.

PD: Where would you like to see improvement within the team? I’d like to see ya finish more drives. I feel we should score every time we cross that first down line, so we’ll be working hard on that.

PD: What was your favourite play of the game? Steph turned a quick out into a pitch long touchdown. It’s always nice to see someone take one to the house but Steph often gets looked over because she’s just so consistently good. I feel like last week the offer me revolved around her, so she deserves massive credit there.

PD: Who were the stand-out players on the day? Steph and Iiona. They were the life of the offence, every time I see Iiona play it amazes me how far she’s come.

PD: Next round you face Wembley Stallions and Cardiff Valkyries once again, what will be the challenge in ensuring another two wins?

The stallions are one physical team so we have to match that physicality as for Cardiff they always bring so much energy. They’ve got some playmakers in both sides of the ball so we’ll have to be on top of our game to get the wins.
