Portsmouth Dreadnoughts vs Maidstone Pumas MVP’s

Following the Senior Team’s second win of the season, several players have been recognised as MVP’s following their performances against the Maidstone Pumas.

Team MVP was awarded to RB Tom Davies. The hard-running workhorse in the Dreadnoughts backfield churned through the Pumas defence and kept the chains moving throughout the game.

Offensive MVP was awarded to WR Jake Smith. In his first game for the team, the former University of Chichester Spitfires receiver proved to be a focal point in the Dreadnoughts passing attack as well as scoring on the ground.

Defensive MVP was awarded to LB Tom Bonser. A menace to the Pumas offence all over the field, he was unlucky to not come away with a game-sealing pick six late in the second half but it would only have been the cherry on top of a what was a strong all around performance.

Special Teams MVP was awarded to DB Zak Edwards. His aggressive pursuit of the football and strong return game helped keep the Dreadnoughts in good field position throughout.

Play of the Game this week was an unusual one, but it turned out to be crucial in deciding the outcome. Center Neil Gibbs’ heads-up recognition of the Pumas having 12 men on the field and snapping the ball to gain the 5 free yards and a first down totally swung the momentum of the game to the Dreadnoughts and helped the team score their second touchdown and eventually win the game.
