Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Academy Announce New Head Coach

The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Academy are pleased to announce that Coach Chris Hillman has been appointed as the new Head Coach of the Junior Contact Team.

Coach Hillman is currently the Running Backs Coach for the Adult Team, and has previously coached at the University of Lincoln in addition to his time as Head Coach of the University of Chichester.

We spoke to both Coach Hillman and Academy Chair Sam Guillen following the appointment.

I’m absolutely delighted to have been asked to become Head Coach of the Academy U19s. Having coached with the seniors for 5 years and achieving promotion to division 1 last year, the need for a successful academy has only grown!

Sam as chairman, alongside his great committee, have done a wonderful job to secure funding from Sport England, and has developed the club into a great position. I hope that the coaching staff, under my leadership can deliver on his vision.

The goal is to produce high quality players that learn to love the sport as much as I do, continuing on to the senior team as they push for even higher reaches or to one of the local universities who are so supportive of our programme.

An experienced coach with the Dreadnoughts Seniors as well as both Lincoln and Chichester Universities, he will no doubt be a fantastic addition to our coaching staff. He has some great ideas that will absolutely benefit the Academy and our players, and help us develop into a top footballing force on the South Coast
