The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Academy offers American Football to players from ages 7 to 19.
The Academy is split into three teams:
Cadet (Flag) | Ages 7-12
Youth (Kitted) | Ages 13-16 ***COMING SOON***
Junior (Kitted) | Ages 16-19
The Cadet Head Coach is Paul Hook, who was appointed in 2019. Coach Hook was one of the inaugural members of the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Ring of Honour, and will look to continue this success with the Cadet team.
The Junior Head Coach is Sam Guillen, who was appointed in 2018. Coach Guillen also serves as the Chairman of the Academy, overseeing all three programmes and ensuring the club continues to develop and provide new opportunities for young people to experience the sport.
The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts are currently looking for additional coaching support for our Academy teams. If you are interested in the sport and would like to help develop the next generation of Dreadnoughts, please get in touch here.
The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Academy is also active in our local community through our Schools Outreach Programme alongside the Jacksonville Jaguars ‘JagTag’ project and the Active Communities Network.
JagTag is a simplified version of touch American Football invented by the Jacksonville Jaguars and sweeping across schools in the UK. The aim of JagTag is getting kids active and interested in a different sport.
JagTag is currently running in Portsmouth at Charter Academy. If you would be interested in bringing JagTag to your school then please get in touch.
Practice at Havant RFC.

Now is a fantastic time to join the Academy. Come down and give it a go!
Flag football is a great way for younger players to learn the game in a safe, non-contact environment.
