A great win on Sunday gave the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts home field advantage in the first round of the Division 2 South Playoffs. Some outstanding performances helped to lead the team to a resounding 29-0 victory.
Team MVP was Defensive Back Joe Clulow. With 4 interceptions and a recovered fumble, Clulow kept the Hertfordshire offense in check and kept the offense in great field position.
Offensive MVP was Running Back Patrick Kanyinda. 3 rushing touchdowns and over 100 yards on 16 carries made for a marquee performance with each a season high total.
Defensive MVP was Linebacker George Evans. Constantly harassing the Hertfordshire offense, Evans made a number of key tackles in the opposition backfield.
Special Teams MVP was Returner Zac Edwards. A constant threat with the ball in his hands, Edwards flipped field position on punt returns numerous times and was unfortunate to not have a return touchdown which was called back for a penalty.
The Play of the Game was the long touchdown scored by Patrick Kanyinda at the start of the second half. Breaking away from the defense, Kanyinda scored his third touchdown of the day from over 70 yards out to give the Dreadnoughts an unassailable 29-0 lead.
