The Portsmouth Dreadnoughts are very pleased to announce that two new coaches have been appointed to the coaches staff of the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Women’s Team.
New Head Coach James Chard and Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Co-Ordinator Owen Benyon both join the club from the Portsmouth Destroyers, whose Women’s Programme recently merged with the Dreadnoughts.
When asked about his appointment, Coach Chard (pictured above) had this to say “I am delighted to be the new Head Coach of the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Women, and I am extremely grateful for the opportunity given to me. It is a great privilege to get to work with a great group of players and staff, and I truly believe that we are in the process of building something great. I would also like to thank everybody who has helped me along in my coaching career to get me to this position, I have been very lucky to have been part of two first class organisations in the Berkshire Renegades and the Portsmouth Destroyers and I am now very proud and honoured to join the Dreadnoughts Family”.
Coach Benyon was also asked for his thoughts on joining the new coaching staff and said “I’m happy to be be appointed as assistant head coach and offensive coordinator or the Portsmouth Dreadnoughts Ladies. I’m looking forward to working with some players who have played the sport at its highest level and to introduce complete newcomers to a sport that I have totally fallen in love with. I’ve been around the sport all my life, but in recent years I’ve had to pleasure of working under some of the UK’s best coaches at the Portsmouth Destroyers.
